California election fraud: ten more indicted in ongoing investigation
Federal authorities announced indictments against ten individuals on Wednesday, expanding a probe into alleged election fraud in Southern California. This action is part of what officials are describing as the largest voter fraud takedown in California’s history.
The new indictments bring the total number of defendants charged in the investigation to 28. Prosecutors allege these individuals illegally registered to vote and cast ballots, falsely representing themselves as U.S. citizens.
Among those indicted is Alexander Muñoz, who was previously arrested on October 19th, along with four others apprehended that day. Two additional suspects named in the indictments remain at large.
Los Angeles prosecutor Bill Essayli highlighted the indictments on social media, stating, “Our work continues.” He added that a federal grand jury returned the 10 indictments against noncitizens who registered and voted in California elections as part of Operation Protect the Vote.
Muñoz, a Belizean national, was arrested at his City of Commerce home by Homeland Security Investigations agents. A family member present during the arrest reportedly mocked the officers. Prosecutors claim Muñoz falsely registered to vote in September 2019 and subsequently cast ballots in 2020, 2022, and 2024.
Muhammad Khan, 50, of Anaheim, a Pakistani national, is accused of submitting a ballot while falsely claiming U.S. citizenship. Ana Domínguez, 60, a Salvadoran national from Long Beach, is also facing charges, accused of fraudulently registering to vote in 2006 and later providing false information on naturalization documents in March.
Domínguez, along with José Antonio Bañuelos-Díaz and Jesús Narez-Madrigal, were among those arrested on October 19th, alongside Khan and Muñoz. Subsequent arrests occurred in the following days, including Carlos Antonio Galeas and Flavio Alejandro Zúñiga on October 20th, and Amandeep Kaur on October 26th.
The investigation stemmed from a list of over 20,000 suspected noncitizens in California who allegedly registered to vote before the November midterm elections. The defendants face various federal charges, including making false statements on naturalization applications.
Two suspects remain fugitives. They are Axel Giovani Prera García, 46, a Guatemalan national from Pico Rivera, and Ernesto Gutiérrez Ruvalcaba, 57, a Mexican national from Wilmington.
