Man admits to drugging wife, shared exploits with online network
A man from Stockport, Manchester, has confessed to multiple offenses, including rape and drugging his wife to enable sexual activity by others, following a court hearing. The man, who is in his 60s and cannot be named to protect his wife’s identity, is expected to testify in the trial of nine other men accused of participating in the abuse.
Prosecutors at Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court allege that the husband and the defendants engaged in a pattern of concealing their actions to fulfill “barbaric fantasies.” The husband initially used alcohol before researching date rape drugs like GHB and sleeping tablets online, the court heard. He then began administering drug cocktails to his wife without her knowledge, filming and photographing the incidents, and sharing them online.
During his online activity, the husband received a photograph of comedian Bill Cosby accompanied by the message, “she can’t say no if she’s unconscious,” according to the court. Beginning at least in 2023, he started inviting other men to their home, where they allegedly sexually abused his wife while she was unconscious.
He created a profile on fabswingers.com, an online messaging site, explicitly mentioning his wife’s impaired state, prosecutors stated. The court heard that the husband did not disclose that his wife was unconscious to those he communicated with.
Louise Oakley KC, the prosecutor, described the situation as a reflection of a disturbing reality: “There are many, many men out there whose fantasy is to have sex and abuse an unconscious and unresponsive woman.”
The defendants, referred to as “contact offenders,” were reportedly aware that the wife would be incapacitated. The “non-contact offenders” allegedly conspired to administer substances to her.
The investigation began when undercover journalists infiltrated a Telegram chat group where members discussed sexual interest in unconscious individuals. To join, the husband was required to provide evidence of his involvement, including imagery of sexual offenses.
Police seized a mobile phone from the husband’s home, containing over one million photographs and videos documenting the abuse. Four other men—Keith Fotheringham, Karl Lindsay, Sean Peers, and Graham Brougham—have already pleaded guilty to related offenses.
The defendants facing trial are Philip Wild, Mohammed Sabir, Jordan Wallace, Alan Keelan, Robert Stewart, Richard Townsend, Jonathan Kirk, David Graves, and Daniel Rayner. They deny the charges, which span from 2015 to 2025.
